Time to "Dress" Up

Not too long ago, I began to realize the numerous kinds of dresses available in the market, and the different names given to them. So this post is more of a 'Fashion Education' one. Some of these terms you would have heard of many times before, and maybe some, you're learning of only now. Keep reading!

Sun-Dress:
This is probably the most common kind of dress available. These dresses are bright, mostly floral, and is to be worn during the day. It, according to me, is not very suitable for a night party, or a classy dinner. More for a Sunday brunch, or a day out with the girls.

Skater/A-Line:
This is my personal favourite. Love the structure of the dress, and I think it gives your waist a slim look. Depending on colour and design, it can be worn at night, and even during the day!

Maxi:
Maxi's make a woman feel so pretty! It's long, often flowy, and looks very pretty. If you're a bit on the shorter side, make sure you wear footwear that gives you height.

Middi:
Like a maxi, but not exactly. This is not exactly a reference to the style of the dress, but more to the length of it.

Bodycon:
One of those classy dresses, but alas! Not for all body types. If you're a bit on the heavier side, I suggest you stay away from bodycon dresses. It's more for girls with the slimmer bodies.

Shift:
These dresses are like a looser bodycon. They have straight cuts, and are not very shapely. So shift dresses are more for women who have curves, or you'll tend to look like you have none at all!

Cocktail:
Cocktail dresses are basically super pretty dresses of any kind meant for the NIGHT. They may be sparkly or simple, but it is definitely for a prom, fancy dinner, or a party at night.

Peplum:
This style seems to be all over nowadays. Have a tummy? It's alright. The peplum will cover it up! But you must always be sure that you buy a peplum dress that stands well. You'll find many pretty ones, but they might look quite awkward when you wear it.

LBD (Little Black Dress):
This is pretty obviously the most worn, and the best known. One of the must haves in a woman's closet! Perfect to wear during the day, and with a little switch of accessories, perfect for the night as well!
