DIY: Earring Stand

Hey, girls!

So I randomly came up with this idea to make my own earring stand because I had been using boxes that I was so bored of! Also, I like arts and crafts, so this was really fun for me.

Things You'll Need:
A box of any shape that you desire.
Pebbles. (Center of Gravity and whatnot)
Felt paper, handmade paper, or anything else you like.
A sharp object like a compass.
Glue.
A pen. (To make markings)

How to:
Before you start making your stand, put a big pebble, or a few small ones inside to prevent toppling over of the stand.
Now begin with covering the ends of your box because I feel that would give you a cleaner finish. To do that, place one end of the box on the paper, and draw an outline. Make a second outline around the first one at a distance of 2cm. Cut the paper using the second outline as a guide. Cut out the corners of the sheet as shown in the picture.

Now glue on the sheets of paper to the ends, and fold down the flaps.
To cover the rest of the sheet, cut the sheet to the length of the box. Then just apply glue on the box one side at a time, and wrap the sheet around it slowly and neatly.
Take the sharp object, and make holes on your earring stand.

Tiny tips:
If you're using felt paper, make sure you don't rub it while applying it onto the box. It ruins the sheet. (I learnt this the hard way)
While making the holes, make sure they are big enough so that your earrings can be taken off and put back on smoothly.

I really hope you liked this post! Keep reading!

Effortlessly Elegant

So I'd learnt a new hairstyle that looks so complex, but could never be easier to do! It's perfect for a party, or even a formal occasion.

How-to:
First, take a fairly deep side partition. Begin french braiding the lesser half.
Take hair from the crown of your head, slightly back comb, and pin it into a slight pouf.
Divide your hair into an upper and lower half. Twist the upper half and pin it into a bun. (Make sure you don't make the hair too sleek, so as to cover the partition of the french braid)
Now, take the lower half along with the remaining hair that was braided, and twist it around the first bun.
Pin this up securely, and you're done!

Casual Tresses

Hey, girls!

Have you ever wanted to try out a new hairstyle, but never known which one? Here are a few ideas for simple hairstyles that you can try out at home!

Top Knot:
This is my favourite for the days when I run out of time, and have really bad hairdays. It's easy, quick, and looks effortlessly elegant, and casual at the same time.

How-to:
Brush your hair neatly.
Flip your hair and gather it at the top.
Flip it back, and bring together the hair by combing it with your fingers. Tie it up.
Now, start twisting the pony you just made, and take it around to form a bun.
Secure with U-pins and bobby pins.

The Twist:
This is a look I love. It's girly and cute, and probably one of my go-to hairstyles for the days my fringe decides to misbehave.

How-to:
Take the desired partition.
Separate a small section of hair near your forehead, and divide it into 2.
Start by taking the section closest to your face, and bringing it over the second section.
Now take the section closest to your face and add a little hair to it (Like you would do with french braids) and keep repeating this until you get to your ear.
You can then pin it up with an embellished hairpin, and you're good to go!

Top Knot with Braid:
This is not a hairstyle I do often at all, but I really love it. It looks intricate, and oh-so-cute. Add a bow, and that's just a beauty.

How-to:
Divide your entire hair into 2 sections- upper and lower.
Tie a top knot with the upper half of your hair and make sure it's secure.
Now, flip your hair, and brush it neatly. Begin french braiding your hair from the top of your neck (All of this while your hair is still flipped).
Once you're done braiding the entire lower section of your hair, bring your head upright again, and wrap the remaining hair around the top knot you had tied previously. Pin the hair neatly, add a bow or any hair accessory, and you're done!

The Braid with a Twist:
This hairstyle is exactly as the title says- a twist, and a braid. Perfect for any casual outing, and for unruly hair.

How-to:
Follow the same steps as the previous hairstyle for the twist.
After you're done pinning the twist securely, begin regularly twisting your hair inwards until you get to the other side of your head.
Once here, you divide your hair into 2 sections. You take a little hair from one section, and add it to the other. You repeat this through your entire braid, and you should have a neat looking fishtail braid in the end.
Once I'm done, I like to tug on the sides of my braid to leave it looking a little lose and casual.

Curling with a Straightener:
This one is for those girls (like me) who don't own curlers, but always wish to have those perfect curls for some occasions.

How-to:
Divide your hair into sections during this entire process. The pattern I follow is to take sections from the bottom, and keep working my way upwards.
After you section out your hair, take a smaller section of about 2 inches, or however big you want your curls to be. (The smaller the section, the tighter the curls)
Begin straightening your hair.

About one-fourth of the way through, turn the iron towards the head, and continue straightening downwards.

Your curl should look something like this:

After you finish curling your entire hair, you can run through it lightly with your fingers. The curls might look a little too tight as soon as your done, but as you go through your day, your hair will keep relaxing and the curls will fall a bit.

Braided Headband:
This is a super simple hairstyle that ANYONE can do for any occasion.

How-to:
Take a small section of hair from near your ear and braid it. Do the the same thing on the other side.
Take both these braids across your head to the other ear, and pin it down. Cover the pins with the rest of your hair. It's as simple as that!

Time to "Dress" Up

Not too long ago, I began to realize the numerous kinds of dresses available in the market, and the different names given to them. So this post is more of a 'Fashion Education' one. Some of these terms you would have heard of many times before, and maybe some, you're learning of only now. Keep reading!

Sun-Dress:
This is probably the most common kind of dress available. These dresses are bright, mostly floral, and is to be worn during the day. It, according to me, is not very suitable for a night party, or a classy dinner. More for a Sunday brunch, or a day out with the girls.

Skater/A-Line:
This is my personal favourite. Love the structure of the dress, and I think it gives your waist a slim look. Depending on colour and design, it can be worn at night, and even during the day!

Maxi:
Maxi's make a woman feel so pretty! It's long, often flowy, and looks very pretty. If you're a bit on the shorter side, make sure you wear footwear that gives you height.

Middi:
Like a maxi, but not exactly. This is not exactly a reference to the style of the dress, but more to the length of it.

Bodycon:
One of those classy dresses, but alas! Not for all body types. If you're a bit on the heavier side, I suggest you stay away from bodycon dresses. It's more for girls with the slimmer bodies.

Shift:
These dresses are like a looser bodycon. They have straight cuts, and are not very shapely. So shift dresses are more for women who have curves, or you'll tend to look like you have none at all!

Cocktail:
Cocktail dresses are basically super pretty dresses of any kind meant for the NIGHT. They may be sparkly or simple, but it is definitely for a prom, fancy dinner, or a party at night.

Peplum:
This style seems to be all over nowadays. Have a tummy? It's alright. The peplum will cover it up! But you must always be sure that you buy a peplum dress that stands well. You'll find many pretty ones, but they might look quite awkward when you wear it.

LBD (Little Black Dress):
This is pretty obviously the most worn, and the best known. One of the must haves in a woman's closet! Perfect to wear during the day, and with a little switch of accessories, perfect for the night as well!
